If you ever find yourself in any one of these positions; locked out of home or vehicle, damaged keys, lost or stolen keys, damaged locks or door frames- then you may need to see your local locksmith.
Locking yourself out of your home can be very frustrating especially if you’ve lost your keys completely, keep in mind panicking can lead to irrational acts such as; busting down doors or trying to pick a lock yourself. Your best bet is to keep yourself calm and call a professional to come inspect what you’re dealing with. Picking a lock, yourself can lead to keyway damage and potentially lead to a complete lock change. It’s annoying to lock yourself out. But what’s even more annoying is, going out of your way to purchase a new lock; properly fitting it- according to door size and requirements and than having to install it. Installing and measuring locks to fit the security standards of your door is also a whole new ball game that should be left to a professional. So, when in doubt don’t act out- Call a professional! This also applies to messily breaking windows to gain re-entry into homes or vehicles, in the end, you will be paying more for damages.

Keys stuck in your ignition? Here’s what to do BEFORE calling your local locksmith. about a potential lockout.

Sometimes different components from your car can lead to a key becoming stuck such as the steering wheel. Check to see if your steering wheel is locked. If it is, this could be leading to the key being stuck in the ignition- as this is a refined part of your ignition. To help relieve your key try gently turning your steering wheel to the left and right while pushing down on the key firmly in the ignition. The ignition should then unlock and release your key.

Getting your keys stuck in an ignition can be frustrating but solved from some of the easiest methods, such as checking if your car is turned off properly. (making sure your key is fully rotated in the key cylinder) Often drivers try and pull out their keys without making sure their vehicle is fully turned off. If this isn’t your problem don’t try and force the keys out to further reduce possible damages to your keys and ignition cylinder. Next, if your key has broken off in the ignition it could be related to one of these problems; neglect to maintain the appearance of your car keys or build up of dirt or debris in the ignition cylinder. It is always recommended to have a locksmith come evaluate the damage and extract the key- if you somehow extract the broken key your self (highly recommended not too) please call a locksmith to come examine your ignition cylinder before using a spare key to prevent any further damages and reoccurring incidents.

BarzzLocks is always here, happy to help and receive your calls. Hopefully, some of these methods will be of use to you to help save time! Worry! And money! If none of the methods listed above work for you, then please proceed to contact your local locksmith!
